IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTIFICATIONS

Campus Safety: Canine Searches

Lewis-Palmer High School partners with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to conduct proactive canine searches on campus each semester. These searches, which may include classrooms, common areas, and locker rooms, are part of our ongoing commitment to student safety. They are intended to prevent the presence of prohibited substances and to ensure a safe learning environment for all students and staff. Families will be notified after each canine search has taken place.

Smoking and Tobacco

We also wanted to bring your attention to a recent handbook change surrounding caffeine pouches.  Since the pouches are indistinguishable from nicotine pouches, both high schools are not allowing students to use caffeine pouches while at school. The handbook language change is below.

Tobacco, vaping, or the display of tobacco, as well as products too difficult to distinguish from prohibited substances (e.g., caffeine pouches), in any form by any person on the school grounds or at school-sponsored activities is not permitted.  As used in this section, “tobacco” means: any product that contains nicotine or tobacco or is derived from tobacco and is intended to be ingested, inhaled or metabolized by or applied to the skin of an individual; or any electronic device that can be used to deliver nicotine to the person inhaling from the device, including but not limited to an electronic cigarettes, vape pens or any delivery device (Ref Policy: JICDA, JICH)

SPRING TESTING DATE CHANGES

*PLEASE NOTE THESE NEW DATES- We have made some changes to the spring state testing schedule.

CMAS TESTING FOR JUNIORS will take place on Monday, April 6 & Tuesday, April 7.  This will take place during juniors' science classes.

We are switching the PSAT/SAT testing dates. The SAT (11th grade) test will now be Tuesday, April 14th and the PSAT (9/10 grade) will be Wednesday, April 15th.  During those testing days, there will not be regular classes.

AP exams will still be May 4 through May 15 at LPHS, NOT AT GRACE BEST as in past years.

The LPHS Important Dates document has been updated to reflect these dates.

SUMMARY:

CMAS Exam (Juniors) - April 6 & 7

SAT Exam (Juniors) - April 14

PSAT Exam (Freshmen and Sophomores) - April 15

AP Exams - May 4-15 at LPHS
